Our Involvement
Nechako Community Church is deeply committed to serving both our local community and beyond, reflecting the love and teachings of Christ through various outreach and ministry initiatives. We believe that being the hands and feet of Jesus involves not only growing spiritually but also actively engaging with and supporting others in meaningful ways. From partnering with regional networks like BCMB to supporting global missions through organizations like One Hope Canada and YWAM, our church is dedicated to sharing the gospel and offering practical help. Whether through local outreach efforts such as NeighbourLink, providing support for families through DivorceCare and Caleb’s Kin, or committing to prayer through our Prayer Chain, Nechako Community Church strives to make a positive and lasting impact in the lives of individuals both near and far.
NeighbourLink:
Established in 1992, NeighbourLink is supported by a network of volunteers and local churches. The program provides practical assistance through small groups, counseling services, and the Act II Thrift Store, which offers affordable gently used goods. NeighbourLink also supports the local food banks, helps with BC Food Bank registration, and provides monthly food hampers. The organization hosts weekly free community lunches and brunches and runs a parent support group, "Best Moms and Dads." Additionally, NeighbourLink offers the Sojourners emergency shelter and food voucher program for stranded travelers and encourages community involvement through volunteer opportunities.
DivorceCare:
DivorceCare is a support group offered by Nechako Community Church to help individuals who are experiencing the pain of divorce. This program provides a safe and supportive environment for participants to heal, find encouragement, and learn biblical principles for navigating the challenges of divorce. DivorceCare aims to help people rediscover hope and healing through community and counseling.
Caleb's Kin:
Caleb's Kin is a lively monthly lunch program at Nechako Community Church, welcoming seniors from all around Vanderhoof, regardless of church denomination. Inspired by the story of Caleb in the Old Testament, who, at 85 years old, boldly claimed God's promises and remained strong in his faith, Caleb's Kin aims to provide a warm, supportive space for seniors to gather, enjoy fellowship, and be encouraged. As Caleb said in Joshua 14:11, “I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me,” we believe in embracing strength, faith, and community at every stage of life. Join us for good food, meaningful connections, and a reminder of God's enduring promises.
Prayer Chain:
The Prayer Chain at Nechako Community Church is a dedicated group of individuals who commit to praying for the needs of the congregation and the broader community. Whether for personal requests, health concerns, or general church needs, the Prayer Chain ensures that prayer remains a central aspect of the church’s support system. The church invites members to submit prayer requests, ensuring that every need is covered in prayer.
BCMB (British Columbia Mennonite Brethren Church):
Nechako Community Church is part of the BCMB, a network of Mennonite Brethren churches across British Columbia. Through this affiliation, NCC receives support, resources, and fellowship, contributing to the larger mission of spreading the gospel and serving communities. The church collaborates with BCMB to ensure a united vision and strong spiritual direction across the region.
One Hope Canada:
Nechako Community Church partners with One Hope Canada, an organization focused on sharing the gospel through youth camps and discipleship programs across Canada. NCC specifically supports Echo Lake Bible Camp, which offers children and youth opportunities to grow spiritually in a fun and supportive environment.
YWAM (Youth With A Mission):
YWAM is an international Christian organization dedicated to spreading the message of Jesus through training, evangelism, and service. It empowers people of all ages to engage in mission work and meet the practical needs of communities around the world. Nechako Community Church actively supports missionaries in the Philippines, Romania, and Vancouver, partnering with YWAM to share the gospel and contribute to local outreach efforts in these areas.
Multiply:
Multiply Mission Network is a global network of churches and organizations working together to spread the gospel and make disciples. It focuses on planting churches, supporting missionaries, and engaging in long-term community transformation. Nechako Community Church is involved with Multiply Mission Network by supporting missionaries in Mongolia, partnering with them to share the message of Jesus and contribute to the spiritual and community development in the region.
